House Rat is a channeled deck of cards created in one night in 2020. The original drawings and first woodblock printed decks have been used for three years to offer intimate space for reflection throughout COVID's beginnings, uprisings, and systemic shifting.

This project is collaborative with it's experiencers being encouraged to access their own magick within the readings. All poetry has been written from Jai's multi-dimensional metaphors and physical relationship with all objects, creatures, and plants within the home, and regenerative experience as a land steward and meditation guide. These poetics are also deeply informed by what has come up in the past 3 years of offering collaborative readings and reflections. This is an art object resulting from Jai's interdisciplinary art practice investigating climate catastrophe and transformation through materials and action.

Jai is currently collaborating with Julia Solano from Making Tangible, and Cullen Beckhorn from Neoglyphic Media to Risograph print the first edition of the House Rat Oracle Book. They are hoping to raise funds to produce the first round of books, and to purchase tools for streamlining the process of printing decks by hand, and providing workshops to communities seeking to learn about paper-making, ink-making, and more. |
