Echoes in Time
Ancestral Lands of the Cayuse, Umatilla, Walla Walla, Kalapuya, Luckiamute
Processing Black Berry Fibers Off-grid as a symbolic ritual of processing fibers resulting from colonization. This process is intensive and full of challenges, from the spikes stalks, to the strong fibers. We masserate the fibers as we expose our inner limiting beliefs that stem from colonized bodies and minds. This transformation is inner and outer as we break apart the hydrogen and oxygen molecules, setting intention and creating new neuro-pathways through positive affirmative beliefs. We turn pulp back into paper and sculpture as an offering to this land, fibers forming together with an even stronger bond than before.
